Texas Labor Day

On the 3rd, I flew to Houston for a conference and Chris drove to pick me up. We made it a long Labor Day weekend and headed for Beaumont to visit with some friends. We had a wonderful time, having a delicious dinner with Celina and Jake, getting to have lunch and being able to spend time with Arthur and Gretchen and the twins, spending an awesome evening in Lake Charles, LA with Shannon, Jeremy and Joni for Shannon's birthday, and then to top it off, chillaxing in the hotel room catching updates from the Razorback game and watching BYU beat OU! We had a wonderful trip and really miss all of our awesome friends from SETX!

Our hotel had a delicious continental breakfast, with waffles in the shape of the state. We thought it was only right that we took a appropriate picture!

Because I was a slacker and took all of 2 photos our entire trip, I have relied on others for their dedication. We went to a hibachi grill for Shannon's birthday and really had a great time. Chris and I didn't end up sitting together, but that's okay because I got to catch up with 2 of my friends from grad school. The only person missing was Lindsay, but she was cycling in Austin.

Chris was amazed at the mad skills the hibachi chef demonstrated...until he broke an egg right by Chris' elbow trying to do a trick!

Joni, me, and Shannon!

We had an amazing time, and the next time we go back, baby Gummy will have been born and ready to meet the SETX family!
